Carlton, MN (NNCNOW.com) — The Carlton School Board unanimously moved forward to hire an expert to guide a consolidation process between its district and Wrenshall on Monday.
Board and community members heard from a representative from Robert W. Baird and Co., a consulting firm which would help officials decided if consolidating the schools would be beneficial to the community.

Board members from both districts expressed concerns over the need for more data surrounding the consolidation and some community members agree.
“From my community, Wrenshall, they are interested in how this is going to impact their taxes. It’s really, what am I going to have to pay for and I think people are willing to pay for education if they see the benefit in it,” said Kevin Olesen, who is part of the community action action group CAWS (Carlton and Wrenshall School Consolidation).
The Wrenshall School District will vote on hiring a consultant next Monday at its board meeting.
