Former Pennsylvania Sen. Vincent Fumo is pursuing a post-prison career as a consultant.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reported Wednesday the once-powerful Philadelphia Democrat has been hired by at least two clients since he completed a four-year federal prison term and five months of home confinement for a corruption conviction in February.
The president of the Pennsylvania Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association told the Inquirer the group hired Fumo because of his unique experience in the Legislature and his familiarity with the state law that regulates gambling. Salvatore DeBunda says Fumo will provide in-house “strategic input” for the organization.
The Inquirer said Fumo, 71, also has been hired by a marine-terminal company, Penn Warehousing & Distribution.
Fumo’s lawyer did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment Wednesday.
