Latest post from Evan Vitale Consulting -

A new report from vendor research firm KLAS Enterprises examines the growing number of consulting firms specializing in serving providers buying Epic information systems. KLAS says Epic has won 92 hospitals with more than 200 beds in the past two years, and the number of “fully rated” consultancies has risen from 13 to 21. The report covers these firms as well as 12 others that have preliminary data. According to KLAS, most firms are performing well.

Two fully rated firms with enough data to meet KLAS’ confidence standards–Impact Advisors and Deloitte–lead the list. But four other companies have preliminary data scores above 90 on a 100 scale: Aspen Advisors, McKinnis Consulting Services, Nordic and Cumberland. (Image: Fotolia)

The top three fully rated firms are Nordic, Sagacious Consultants and Vonlay. “All focus solely on Epic projects and prefer to hire consultants who have previously worked at Epic,” according to KLAS. Five other vendors with preliminary data have scores topping 90. This category of work is highly competitive with 29 firms competing for business. Fully rated and preliminary scores in this category range from 94.7 to 65.2. (Image: Fotolia)

Aspen Advisors, which also is ranked as having the best staff, is the leader in advisory services with Impact Advisors and Deloitte rounding out the top three. PwC and Leidos Health are a distant 4th and 5th among fully rated firms. (Image: Fotolia)

Epic’s Community Connect program enables large provider organizations to share their EHR with independent physicians and community hospitals. Three consultancies currently offer services for Community Connect: Dell, Hayes Management and Nordic.
