The Sacramento Kings have started a marketing and consulting company to help outside clients sell sponsorships and improve their brands.
The new company is called Crown Sports United and will be based in Sacramento and the Bay Area.
“Think of it as a mini-agency,” said Kings President Chris Granger, announcing the formation of Crown Sports last week at a sports-business conference in New York.
Granger said the new company is a natural extension of the interaction between the Kings and their sponsors.
The sponsors “have been asking for more opportunities to engage,” Granger said during a panel discussion at the New York conference, sponsored by Bloomberg news.
Crown Sports has already lined up several clients, including Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows ski resorts, the U.S. Ski and Snowboarding Association and the Sacramento Sports Commission.
Crown Sports worked on marketing and sponsorship programs for the Sports Commission during the USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in June.
