Health care facilities around the country are quickly adopting electronic medical records to more efficiently store patient records, however adopting the new technology comes with a learning curve for clinical staff.

That’s where MedFirst Consulting comes in. The Birmingham-based health IT consulting firm helps train and educate hospital staff on how to integrate EMRs into daily operations, and the company has recently formed a partnership with Illinois-based Innovative Consulting Group to create a combined EMR support network of more than 8,000 health care IT resources.

MedFirst CEO Brian Smith said his company works with the staff of health care providers to prepare them for when its EMRs go live and then routinely follows up to ensure the process is going smoothly.

“MedFirst contributes to this partnership an amazing track record of engagements with consistent high quality performance and client satisfaction,” Smith said. “As we have explored many strategic affiliations, we could not be more pleased with the opportunity to work with ICG. Together, we are stronger and our clients will benefit making this an ideal partnership.”

Some of the health IT companies that MedFirst and ICG work with include Epic, Cerner, Allscripts, NextGen, Siemens, MEDITECH and McKesson.

“Joining forces with Brian and his team at MedFirst just makes sense,” said Wayne Kinney, CEO of ICG. “Our companies have a very similar foundation, in which we are all about client relationships. With MedFirst’s successful go-live methodology and ICG’s A-plus consultants, we are able to offer the industry a powerful team with guaranteed successes. I am very excited about this partnership and the impact we will have on healthcare IT.”
